Who Are The
Mentors ?
Mentors are everyday
people.
They might
be homemakers, college students, retirees, military personnel, factory workers or rocket
scientists
- They might be rich or poor short or tall
- Mentors do not have to have any special training or education
Mentors Are:
At least
18 years of age with a valid drivers license and reliable transportation
Ordinary people who are
willing to VOLUNTEER their time to share their hobbies/talents
People who want to make a
difference
Able to relate to children
and adults
Mature, reliable, and of
good character
Are able to make a
commitment to spend 4 hours a month for one year with a child
How do I become a mentor:
Potential volunteers
contact The Guidance Center and we gather some basic information
We will mail you an
application and schedule an interview with you
At the time of your
interview, we will provide an orientation and answer all of your questions
Following your interview,
Big Brothers Big Sisters program staff will complete your background and referance checks
One the process is complete
you will be placed on a waiting list until an appropriate match can be made
